RPHL Network Launches Second Cohort of the Global Laboratory Leadership Programme Training of Trainers and Mentors

Bangkok, 29 October 2025 — The Regional Public Health Laboratory (RPHL) Network, in collaboration with the Global Laboratory Leadership Programme (GLLP) Consortium and with support from the Global Fund, successfully launched the second cohort of the RPHL Network GLLP Training of Trainers and Training of Mentors (Cohort 2, Phase 1) through its first virtual session held on 29 October 2025. The Training of Trainers and Mentors Package aims to equip trainers and mentors with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to deliver effective instruction and mentorship within the Global Laboratory Leadership Programme (GLLP).

The webinar brought together 44 participants, including regional experts, first-cohort alumni, representatives from the GLLP Consortium, WHO SEARO, the WHO Country Office in Viet Nam, and RPHL Network advisors. Among them, a total of 25 laboratory professionals from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam, along with representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the RPHL Network Secretariat, are taking part in the training.

Each participant was carefully selected through nominations by RPHL Network member country focal points and interviews conducted by the RPHL Network Committee, ensuring a cohort of dedicated and passionate professionals committed to advancing laboratory leadership and public health excellence.

This initial phase introduced participants to the GLLP framework and guided them in selecting learning modules and preparing for Phase 2, which will take place from 17–21 November 2025 in Pattaya, Thailand. The upcoming phase will focus on practical leadership development and mentoring applications.

The RPHL Network remains committed to promoting regional leadership, capacity building, and collaboration to drive sustainable improvements in laboratory quality, biosafety, and public health preparedness.
