Joint Workshop on Genomic Applications for Outbreak Investigation and Surveillance Held by RPHL Network and ASEAN Plus 3 FETN, May 29, 2024

Under the chairmanship of Dr. Yongyot Thammavudhi, Director General of the Department of Medical Sciences (DMSc), and Dr. Thongchai Keeratihatthayakon, Director General of the Department of Disease Control (DDC), Ministry of Public Health, Thailand, a joint workshop was conducted focusing on genomic applications for outbreak investigation and surveillance. The workshop was opened and welcomed by Dr. Ballang Uppapong, Deputy Director General, on behalf of Director General, DMSC and Dr. Panithee Thammawijaya, Medical Physician, Advisory Level, on behalf of Director General, DDC. The event saw participation from 40 attendees representing RPHL Network and ASEAN Plus 3 FETN, along with interested observers.

Speakers from the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub presented on “Genomic Epidemiology Case Studies,” accompanied by Dr. Pongpun Sawatwong from TUC, who shared insights into sequencing technologies. Additionally, Dr. Ratana Tacharoenmuang and Dr. Peera Hemarajata of APHL provided an introduction to the course overview and concept introduction.
